Site Assessment
Getting to know your site is vital and that’s why one of the first things in our process is to visit your block. Here we can see the lay of the land - how are the levels, where are the views, is there any considerations in terms of privacy from adjoining neighbours, what’s the best orientation for passive solar benefits and so on. We also listen carefully to your vision for the property and how you see the final design melding into the landscape.
Planning Approval
Depending on the location of your property prior planning approval from your local authority may be required. This requirement will often apply in older heritage listed areas or within certain estates where there are restrictive covenants’ and guidelines. Having prepared your approved preliminary design we prepare formal documentation for lodgement of a Development Application.
Architectural Documentation
At Geographe Home Design we believe "the devil is in the detail". The exact position of a door, window or other architectural element can make or break your final home design. Once your preliminary home design is complete, we prepare final architectural working drawings where this detail is fully documented for builders and tradesman to construct your new home. We also liaise with others such as structural engineers, building surveyors and local authorities.

At Geographe Home Design we believe you need to be comfortable with your designer. The process of having your dream home designed and built is a serious undertaking and you need to be sure that your designer has the ability to deliver your dream.
With the above in mind we suggest you take advantage of our obligation FREE site visit where we can walk the block and begin to understand your vision. It’s also a great way to get to know each other and toss around ideas in an informal setting while at the same time making note of the key aspects of your site and your design brief.
